Chaser's £199 plan caps at £4m revenue, Kolleno's $650 is charged per user above $1m turnover, and Upflow quotes by gross invoice value. Paidnice prices by invoice volume.
Credit control software automates invoice chasing, payment reminders and debtor management, and links to your accounting system so the business gets paid faster. The core feature set is automated reminders, escalation workflows, a customer portal, dispute tracking and credit risk. The four tools compared here are Chaser, Kolleno, Upflow and Paidnice, and all four connect to Xero and QuickBooks Online.
Three facts decide which of them you can buy: the ledger or ERP you run, your turnover or invoice value, and whether the price is charged per company or per user. Chaser bands by company revenue, Kolleno gates by turnover and charges per seat with minimum seat counts, and Upflow bands by gross invoice value. Paidnice prices by invoice volume.
The short answer
| Tool | Best for | Priced by | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chaser | Letters, calls, checks | Annual revenue | £199 a month |
| Kolleno | NetSuite or SAP matching | Per user, turnover gate | $650 per user a month |
| Upflow | SaaS AR analytics | Gross invoice value | $440 a month iUpflow's last published price. Upflow now quotes by gross invoice value. |
| Paidnice | Terms on Xero or QBO | Invoice volume | $69 / £49 a month |
Credit control software automates reminders, runs escalation workflows, hosts a customer portal and tracks disputes. Credit checking and bank-file cash application are where the four tools diverge.
Every tool here syncs invoices from your ledger or ERP, then runs a schedule of reminders against anything overdue. Above that sit three parts a buyer should shortlist on: whether the tool computes a late fee itself, whether it matches incoming bank payments, and whether it checks a customer's credit before you extend terms.
Kolleno and Upflow read bank files. Chaser and Kolleno run credit checks. Chaser and Paidnice compute late fees, and Paidnice varies them per customer group and posts them to the ledger. Paidnice runs no credit checks and reads no bank files.
Credit control software and accounts receivable automation are the same category. UK buyers say credit control; US vendors say accounts receivable automation or order-to-cash. The shortlist is the same either way, and so are the gates.
| Label | What it covers | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts receivable automation | The whole invoice-to-cash process | US, and enterprise vendors everywhere |
| Credit control | Everything involved in collecting overdue invoices, credit limits included | Mainly the UK |
| Debtor management | The UK's credit control under an antipodean name | Australia and New Zealand |
| Dunning | Only the scheduled reminder sequence itself | US, and billing-platform documentation |
Dunning on a subscription billing stack is covered in credit control for B2B SaaS.
Seventeen decision facts for Chaser, Kolleno, Upflow and Paidnice: price, denominator, turnover fit, ledgers, channels, features, ratings and how you start.

None The capability is absent from the vendor's documented feature list.
Not published The vendor documents nothing either way, so the answer is unknown.
Prices as at September 2026.
Chaser's £199 plan stops at £4m revenue. Kolleno starts above $1m turnover and charges per seat, so its real entry for auto-reconciliation is $2,490. Upflow bands by gross invoice value.
Three of the four set an eligibility limit before you see a price, and each uses a different measure: company revenue, turnover or gross invoice value. A business below $1m turnover cannot buy Kolleno's entry plan. A business at £12m cannot stay on Chaser's £199 plan.
Chaser is priced on annual revenue. Compact at £199 covers up to £4m and includes four users, 30 templates, four schedules and one inbox. Its larger plans are for firms at £4m and more: Core at £599 covers up to £10m. Complete at £899 covers up to £100m.
Kolleno gates by turnover and then charges per seat. BusinessPay needs above $1m and one user, Business Plus above $10m and two users, Enterprise above $100m and two users, Enterprise Plus above $1bn and four users.
Upflow bands by gross invoice value. Starter covers up to $10m a year, Grow up to $25m, Scale up to $50m, Accelerate up to $100m and Entreprise above that. Grow is $440 a month ($400 annual) and Scale $880 ($800 annual) iUpflow's last published price. Upflow now quotes by gross invoice value., and a free plan covers AR visibility.
Paidnice prices by invoice volume. Plans step from 150 invoices on Essentials to 4,000 on Pro 4,000, and Custom above that. Count the sales invoices you raised last month and read the plan off that number. The fit is finance teams between $1m and $20m a year.
Kolleno charges per user, Chaser and Paidnice per company, and Upflow includes unlimited seats. Kolleno's seat minimums are one, two, two and four.
Kolleno's BusinessPay is $650 per user a month, or $545 on an annual commitment, and Business Plus is $1,245 per user.
Seat counts multiply the headline price. Three credit controllers on BusinessPay is $1,950 a month. Business Plus requires two seats at $1,245 each, so the real entry figure for auto-reconciliation is $2,490 a month.
Chaser includes four users on Compact, charges £10 for each extra user there, and includes unlimited users from Core. Paidnice includes two team members on Essentials and unlimited users on Pro and Custom, with no per-seat fee anywhere.
The monthly range. Chaser runs £199 to £899, with custom pricing above £100m revenue. Kolleno runs $650 to $2,490 before the quoted tiers. Paidnice runs $69 to $799, with Custom from $999.
The plan-by-plan ladder, with every tier, seat minimum and gate side by side, is in credit control software pricing. This page keeps to eligibility and fit.
Read the currency before the number. Chaser publishes in pounds ex-VAT, with 10% off on annual terms. Kolleno publishes per user, in US dollars. Paidnice sets a local price in each currency, so £49 is the British price of Essentials and $69 the US price.
Compare entry prices in the currency you are billed in. Chaser Compact is £199 a month, Kolleno BusinessPay is $650 per user, and Upflow Grow is $440 a month iUpflow's last published price. Upflow now quotes by gross invoice value.. The lowest published entry price of the four is Paidnice Essentials, at $69 / £49 a month for 150 invoices and two team members.
Count the metered extras. Chaser bills SMS at £0.05 to £0.07, credit checks at £2 to £3, AR forecasting at £9 a month and cash-flow forecasting at £20. Kolleno states extra charges may apply for integrations, customisations and add-ons. Paidnice bills SMS at $0.10 / £0.05 and multi-entity at $29 / £19 per entity.
Paidnice insightRunning a group of companies costs $29 / £19 per extra entity. Priced fairly, with no contracts or lock-ins. For the multi-company setup, see credit control across multiple Xero companies.
Chaser leads on collections reach, Kolleno on full accounts receivable with reconciliation, and Upflow on AR analytics. Each is sold to a different buyer.
Chaser leads on collections reach. Founded in the UK in 2014 and sold through an accountant and bookkeeper partner channel as well as direct, it chases by email, SMS, posted letters and automated text-to-speech calls. It runs credit checks, routes escalated debt to a partner collection agency, and sells its own debtor chasing service, Chaser Care.
Kolleno leads on full accounts receivable and reconciliation. Founded in London in 2020, it moved from SME credit control to enterprise order-to-cash, with published accounts including Deel, Miro and 1Password. It reads BAI2, NACHA and ISO 20022 bank files, parses remittance emails and runs a native NetSuite SuiteApp, so cash is matched as well as chased.
Upflow leads on analytics. A Y Combinator W20 company headquartered in New York, it sells to recurring-revenue B2B businesses such as Vercel and Lattice. Countback DSO against Best Possible DSO, Collection Effectiveness Index (CEI), at-risk rate and billing-cohort forecasting sit on connections to Stripe Billing, Chargebee and Zuora.
Upflow auto-sends email, SMS and letters once a day on business days, with calls left as manual steps. Kolleno includes SMS and call allowances on its Enterprise tiers. Paidnice sends email and SMS, and pushes team alerts to Slack, Teams, Discord, Telegram or WhatsApp over a webhook. The stack detail is in credit control software for Xero.
Paidnice runs two optional charge types on the same customer group: an Invoice Late Fee per overdue invoice, and a Statement Interest Charge per customer against the whole overdue balance.
Policies sit under customer groups, so several run at once. One group can charge Bank of England base rate plus a percentage, another a flat fee, another nothing. Compounding is on by default, through the "Include previous interest charges" toggle, so simple interest is the deliberate choice.
The base rate toggle applies the correct base rate for each period an invoice spans, which matters because the UK statutory rate is fixed in six-month blocks. The £40, £70 and £100 fixed compensation is applied as its own line item with its own description and income account. The entitlement is set out in our UK late payment fees guide.
Statement interest recalculates at the moment the statement is sent, so the figure the customer opens is accurate that morning. Adjust for Credit calculates on the net balance when the customer holds credit.
The fee posts as a real invoice in Xero or QuickBooks Online, Draft or Approved. Only a posted invoice enters the customer's AP system, their aged payables and their payment run. It is also the only version of the charge that is a receivable, carries a tax treatment and an income account, and can be netted against a credit note.
Neither ledger charges the interest for you. The request has sat on the Xero ideas board since 29 March 2012 with 1,112 votes and the status Accepted, and Xero's response of 7 July 2025, from Community Manager Kelly Munro, states there are no committed plans.
What you are entitled to charge is set out in how much you can charge for late fees. Where the charge belongs in a sequence is in our dunning process guide.

The honest limitation. Paidnice runs no credit checks and does no bank-file cash application.
Paidnice prices by invoice volume, so the price follows the work Paidnice does, whatever the size of your business. There is no per-seat fee.
Each of the four has a gap that matters to a particular buyer. Paidnice cannot check a customer's credit and cannot read a bank file.
The limitation, Chaser. Late fees run under one global rule for the whole account. It cannot vary by schedule or customer group, applies no fee to payment-plan or partially paid invoices, and syncs line items to Xero only. Statements are monthly on a fixed day with recipients and senders you cannot change, and there is no bank-file matching. You cannot buy it without a demo.
The limitation, Kolleno. Per-user pricing with seat minimums and a $1m turnover floor sets a high entry cost for a small business. No late fee or interest feature is published, and no trial is published either. The tutorial depth is NetSuite-first, and Xero and QuickBooks coverage is thin.
The limitation, Upflow. No payment plans: customers can pay a partial amount or log a promise to pay. Late fees exist through your ERP only, with no native computation. Automatic actions fire once a day on business days at one org-level time, and the free plan covers AR visibility only and is not a trial.
The limitation, Paidnice. No credit checking and no credit bureau data, where Chaser and Kolleno both run credit checks. No bank-file cash application either, where Kolleno and Upflow both match bank payments. NetSuite, Sage Intacct, MYOB and Dynamics 365 Business Central sit on Custom only, from $999 / £749.
Chaser publishes a 10-day trial and still requires a demo before you can buy. Kolleno publishes no trial. Upflow's free tier is sales-gated. Paidnice has a free action period: the first 20 actions are free, with no time limit and no card.
Chaser, Kolleno and Upflow route you through a salesperson before you can run the software against your own overdue invoices. Paidnice does not.
Chaser. A 10-day trial, then a demo before purchase. Payment plans are not available on the trial.
Kolleno. Quote-led. Onboarding is bundled into the plan: three hours on Business Plus, six hours of training on Enterprise.
Upflow. The free plan covers AR visibility, with no collection automation, and it is not a trial. You speak to sales before you use it. Paid plans run from $440 a month on Grow, $880 on Scale iUpflow's last published price. Upflow now quotes by gross invoice value..
Paidnice. No free trial and no clock. Signing up is free, the first 20 actions are free, there is no time limit and no credit card, and no demo is needed to buy.
Trial terms across the wider market, and what to test inside one, are in credit control software free trials.
Kolleno for NetSuite and SAP reconciliation, Upflow for AR analytics on a SaaS billing stack, Chaser for letters, calls and credit checks, Paidnice for enforcing terms on Xero or QuickBooks.
NetSuite or SAP, above $10mBuy Kolleno. Remittance parsing, BAI2, NACHA and ISO 20022 matching and NetSuite journal entries are the reason to buy it. Auto-reconciliation starts on Business Plus, which needs two seats, so budget $2,490 a month.
SaaS billing, managing by metricBuy Upflow. Countback DSO, CEI, at-risk rate and billing-cohort forecasting, with Stripe Billing, Chargebee and Zuora connections. From $440 a month on Grow, $880 on Scale iUpflow's last published price. Upflow now quotes by gross invoice value..
Past £4m, needs letters or callsBuy Chaser. Email, SMS, physical letters, automated calls and credit checks, priced on annual revenue, with Compact from £199 a month ex-VAT up to £4m. SMS, letters, calls and credit checks are metered on top.
Xero or QuickBooks, terms ignoredBuy Paidnice. Reminders, statements and optional late fees on the ledger, a different policy per customer group, from $69 / £49 a month. No per-seat fee.
To try Paidnice on your own overdue invoices: connect Xero or QuickBooks Online and set one reminder policy on one customer group. The first 20 actions are free, with no credit card.

Five questions buyers ask when they hold a shortlist of credit control tools, from the basic toolset to tracking customer payments.
What are the tools of credit control?
Automated reminders on a schedule, escalation workflows, a customer payment portal, dispute tracking, statements, payment plans, credit checks and late fees or statutory interest. Chaser and Kolleno run credit checks, Kolleno and Upflow match bank files, and Chaser and Paidnice compute late fees, with Paidnice varying them per customer group.
What is the most popular accounts receivable software?
Review volume is the closest public signal, and it is platform-specific. Chaser holds 4.98 from 374 reviews on the Xero App Store. Upflow holds 4.8 from 233 on G2, Kolleno 4.9 from 99 on G2, and Paidnice 5.0 from 83 on the Xero App Store. Scores from different platforms are not comparable.
What is the best debt collection software?
Debt collection is a separate category from credit control, and none of these four is a collections agency. Chaser routes escalated debt to a partner agency on a success fee. The other three stop at the point where you would instruct a collector. Credit control software works before that point, and a collections agency after it.
How to manage accounts receivable effectively?
Set the payment terms, chase on a schedule, escalate through named senders as the debt ages, and charge for lateness so the invoice costs something to ignore. Our dunning process guide sets out the sequence, and automatic customer statements in Xero covers the monthly balance step.
How to keep track of customer payments?
Your ledger holds the record, so tracking comes down to how quickly payments are applied against it. Kolleno reads bank files and parses remittance emails, Upflow auto-matches with rules and a bank-CSV upload, Chaser marks invoices paid in Xero and QuickBooks Online without bank-file matching, and Paidnice does no cash application. Ageing is covered in 30, 60 and 90 day ageing on Xero statements.
Paidnice is accounts receivable automation that enforces your payment terms, trusted by thousands of businesses on Xero and QuickBooks. Credit control and debtor management, run for you.
